This American Airlines DC-3 visited Tulsa over the weekend for a fund raiser at the Tulsa Air and Space Museum. It spent Thursday night in a hangar at the maintenance base and I was able to get a few photos early Friday morning.
The color shots are from the Kodak Z1285 and the black and white images are scans from the Nikon N6000 loaded with Kodak 400B/W, scanned at our local photo lab. Click through and look at the full size images for the detail.

It sometimes flys around Fort Worth Alliance Airport as well. COOL aircraft.
Man, those are some big-ass exhaust pipes....I bet that thing is LOUD.
ReplyDeleteThose big rotary piston engines have a distinctive sound, Steve. And when I've heard it from inside the house, I'm known to run outside with a camera in hand. We had that B-17 flying around here last summer, and there are always a few old biplanes on weekends. Some were hangared down at a private airfield on 21st(?) Street in Tulsa. Frankly, I hadn't thought about them for a long time, so this would be a good weekend to make a trip down there.
