This is exactly why I carry a gun with 16 personal defense rounds in the mag when I ride. High gas prices and financial problems push people to desperate actions.
Horrible :-(
Angel, in this case, they guy was shot as he rode away. Under OK CCW laws, you must be threatened before you can use a firearm. That is, the bad guy must be actively threatening you. If you were riding away and someone shot at you, turning around to re-engage in a fight could have adverse consequences. It's no longer self defense.
What the hell is wrong with people?!
How to Prevent Bike-Jack, WITHOUT Really Trying:
1) Drive a POS around town;
2) Lose the spandex;
3) Look REALLY REALLY mean and tough in the Santa suit.
Problem SOLVED.
Paul, looking like a low life loser is no guarantee of avoiding assault.
Try wearing a HEll's Angels jacket... my attemtp to be funny but this is a serious deal. I hope the guy is alright.
Oh yeah, wearing gang colors through a ghetto neighborhood is a BRILLIANT idea :-/ You'll draw the attention of both real Hell's Angels AND their rivals.
I can't find the news online, but a local bicyclist on his way home from work was assaulted by two teens last night. The cyclist (a big dude) smacked the two teens down; one escaped, the other one is in jail.
